I have been eight years in the service of the Cotoniał

Government and have held the abkointment of Clerk of the Court and

Clerk to the Chief and Fuisne Judges in this Colony for over five

years during which time I have gained consideroble experience in

oft branches of legal work, and § think that with my knowledge

of the Chinese and their language, monners and customs, and the

departmental duties of the Civil Service, I shall prove myself

generally useful.
